Dispatches from a vegan planet
Our diplomatic attaches have been streaming out across Europe and have sent in the following reports.
[IRELAND] Quay Co-op
On the banks of the River Lee in this small town in provincial Southwest Eire is an institution that epitomises the vegan/ethical ideal. Downstairs is a large co-op, organic & wholefood shop and upstairs is a co-op vegetarian restaurant with a massive menu, delicious salad bar and gorgeous vegan cakes. We can't praise this place highly enough - the staff are helpful and the windows look out onto the river and the bridge to the Grand Parade where on weekends one can find community events (the Cork Book Festival when we were there). Be warned, Cork is Ireland's most expensive city but the food is worth the price (eg. 4.50 euros for chocolate cake).

[POLAND] Cykloza
It turns out that fixed wheel bikes are trendy in Warsaw as well as in London. Where there are fixies there are couriers and in Warsaw, the couriers have their own cool coffee shop. Cykloza is a hangout, gallery, anarchist infoshop, meeting-place and our favourite feature of Poland's capitol. As well as yummy fairtrade coffee, this place has mate from Argentina and vegan sweets such as cheesecake and apple crumble cake. Check out their smart website.
